Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Pakistan’s historic victory over India, calling it a moment that left the world astonished. Speaking at a federal cabinet meeting on July 30, 2025, the Prime Minister emphasized that victory is unmatched and highlighted the collective efforts that led to the country’s success.
Reflecting on the victory, Shehbaz Sharif stated that the global conversation continues to center around Pakistan’s triumph. He paid tribute to the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir, recognizing the performance of the Pakistan Air Force, and emphasized how national unity played a pivotal role. “The professionalism and bravery shown by our armed forces left the world in awe,” he remarked.
The Power of Unity
During his speech, the Prime Minister reiterated the importance of national unity in achieving the victory. He praised Pakistan’s unity as the cornerstone of the country’s success, which brought divine blessings and international recognition. “The success of our forces is a testament to their excellence and the unity of our nation,” he added.
The war, which occurred in May, was sparked when India launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistan after an incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The conflict led to Pakistan’s military forces successfully downing six Indian fighter jets and numerous drones. Despite India’s accusations, Pakistan denied involvement in the attack on tourists in Pahalgam and called for an impartial investigation. The war concluded on May 10, with a ceasefire agreement facilitated by the United States.
Condolences for Victims of Natural Disasters
In addition to discussing the victory, Shehbaz Sharif expressed his sorrow over the devastating impact of recent floods caused by heavy rainfall across the country. He acknowledged the lives lost and the damage caused in Punjab, Sindh, and hilly regions like Diamer and Gilgit-Baltistan. “During the cabinet meeting, prayers were offered for those who perished in both terrorist attacks and the recent floods,” he said.
Advancements in Energy Sector
The Prime Minister also commended efforts in the energy sector, noting significant strides in reforms. He praised Energy Minister Awais Leghari and his team for implementing ground breaking changes that have helped save billions of rupees. He emphasized that improved dialogue with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) played a key role in reducing electricity distribution losses and saving taxpayer money.
A Step Forward in Modernizing Pakistan’s Railways
PM Shehbaz Sharif further lauded the modernization of the railway system, particularly the digital transformation of the ticketing process at Lahore Railway Station. He expressed personal satisfaction over this initiative, marking it as a milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.
