PM Stresses Leveraging AI for Pakistan’s Economic Growth
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has underscored the government’s commitment to utilizing emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, to drive Pakistan’s national and economic development.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of AI experts, he said that new technologies must align with the country’s priorities to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.
The meeting included representatives from some of the world’s leading institutions, including BlackRock, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Deloitte, and top AI and technology companies.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of collaborating with global experts, particularly overseas Pakistanis, to accelerate Pakistan’s digital transformation. He reiterated that AI and other emerging technologies must be integrated into national policies, enhancing institutional capacity while meeting the country’s development goals.
“The government is actively working with the private sector to improve public service delivery and boost economic progress through technology,” Sharif stated.
The delegation shared insights into the practical applications of AI in addressing Pakistan’s key challenges. Bilal Bin Saqib, Chairman of the Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority, was also present and emphasized that AI is no longer a future concept for Pakistan but a present-day opportunity. He assured that the government is already taking concrete steps in this direction.
