ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has unveiled a Ramazan relief package worth Rs20 billion.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Ramzan relief package, the prime minister said the package will benefit four million families comprising 20 million people. He said that under the package, Rs5,000 will be given to each of the four million deserving families through digital wallets.
He said that the inflation rate was significantly lower this time compared to last Ramazan and compared to last year’s package of Rs7 billion, this time the Ramazan package has been made very easy, now there will be no need for the recipients to stand in long queues.
On the occasion, Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain said that the Ramazan package had been finalized within 20 days. State Bank, NADRA, BISP and other related institutions made the process possible. He said that for the first time three million digital wallets had been created, through which the money will reach the beneficiaries directly.
