LAHORE: The PML-N and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) have agreed on seat adjustment for the forthcoming general elections.
The decision was reached at a meeting held at the residence of PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and IPP leader Jehangir Khan Tareen and other leaders from the two parties.
However, it is not yet clear on what proportion the seats of the national and provincial assemblies would be divided. In this regard, another meeting would be held to finalize the details.
It may be noted that the since the return of former prime minister and supreme leader of the PML-N Nawaz Sharif from self-exile, the party has been reaching out to different ‘like-minded’ political parties for seat adjustment.
A few days ago, Nawaz Sharif met veteran politician Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain in Lahore. The two sides discussed current political situation and seat adjustments in the forthcoming general elections.
It was after 2009 when Nawaz Sharif visited Chaudhry Shujaat at his residence. Back then, he had visited him to condole the death of Chaudhry Shujaat’s mother.
