POL prices slashed in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: While political temperature remains high with the government on pressure after its botched attempt to arrest opposition PTI chief Imran Khan, the PDM coalition government on Monday night announced a substantial reduction in prices of petroleum products for the coming fortnight.

The decision was announced by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government decided to reduce the prices of petroleum prices.

The price of diesel has been reduced by Rs30 per litre and that of petrol by Rs12 per litre.

In its last fortnight bulletin, the federal government had slashed the price of diesel by Rs5 per litre while keeping the price of petrol unchanged.

In a televised address, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said the prices had been worked out to provide “maximum relief” to the masses on the instructions of PM Shehbaz.

Following the notification, petrol was available at Rs282, HSD Rs288, kerosene oil at Rs176.07 and light diesel oil at Rs164.68 per litre.
