Police security for ex-SC judges, their widows ordered

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court, with the approval of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, has formally written to the Ministry of Interior, requesting enhanced security measures for retired judges and their widows.

The letter states that, in view of the current security situation in the country, each retired judge should be provided with three police personnel for security. It further directs that widows of deceased judges should also be given security comprising three police officers to ensure their protection.

The registrar in the letter clarified that the security personnel will work under the authority of the respective District Police Officer (DPO), who will also be responsible for monitoring them.

The Ministry of Interior has been instructed to immediately direct all relevant security agencies to implement these measures to remove any potential threats.

Copies of the letter have also been sent to provincial chief secretaries and all inspectors general of police to ensure uniform compliance across the country.
