Policeman involved in Police Lines suicide attack arrested: IGP

PESHAWAR: Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakthunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan on Tuesday said that a policeman had been arrested in connection with the Police Lines suicide case of January 2023.

Addressing a press conference, the IGP said that the policemen identified as Muhammad Wali had links with a militant outfit Majlis e Ahrar and got his 86 colleagues killed through a suicide bomber for the sake of just 200,000 rupees.

He said Wali had joined the police in January 2019 and after three years he had made contacts with the militant outfit. He also had visited Afghanistan and met with leaders of the outfit.

The policeman had facilitated the suicide bomber and also provided him the map of the Police Lines Peshawar. By taking advantage of his uniform, the policeman brought the suicide bomber to Peshawar from Bara in Khyber.
