Policemen skipping duty during PTI protest to face action

Islamabad police chief orders AIG establishment to prepare list and proceed against officials.

ISLAMABAD: The police in Islamabad have initiated the process to take legal action against all those policemen who did not join duty during the protest of PTI on November 24th.

The PTI held its protest across the country with participants mostly from KP marching to Islamabad on November 24th demanding the release of party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan who has been in jail since August last year.

Besides the development of all the Islamabad police personnel, Rangers and police from Punjab, Sindh and Azad Jammu and Kashmir were also called to the federal capital to deal with land and order situation.

The protest of the PTI ended with a grand operation carried out by police and other law and enforcement agencies in the early hours of November 27.

After the protest, it emerged that scores of policeman of Islamabad had either refused to join duty or remain absent during the protest.

Inspector General of Police Islamabad Ali Nasir Rizvi recently ordered the AIG establishment for initiating legal action against all such police officers and officials for dereliction of duty.

On the direction of the IGP, list of all police officers and officials is being prepared for action, according to sources in the IGP office.

Action would be taken against all officers and officials of the capital police who remained absent from duty from November 23rd to November 26th for whatever reason when police and other law enforcement agencies were on their toes due to the protest.
