ISLAMABAD: Political and military leadership of the country at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on National Security on Tuesday decided to use all means to completely eradicate terrorism.
The meeting was held with Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq in the chair. The meeting was attended by the prime minister, members of the parliamentary committee, political leaders, army chief, key defence personnel and top officials from security agencies.
According to a statement, the Parliamentary Committee strongly condemned the recent acts of terrorism with the political and military leadership vowing to deal with terrorists with an iron hand.
The committee discussed in detail the current national security situation and the recent wave of terrorism. It stressed the immediate implementation of the National Action Plan and the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy to dismantle terror networks, logistical support systems, and the nexus between terrorism and crime.

The statement said a coordinated and systematic strategy had to be adopted to eliminate facilitators of terrorists. Effective action will be taken against any group supporting terrorism. The committee recommended strict action against those who spread the narrative of terrorists on social media.
The statement said state institutions should have full independence in matters of law enforcement and national security. The committee stressed that all necessary measures should be taken to eliminate terrorism. The committee stressed that resources should be provided to further improve the efficiency of law enforcement agencies.
The committee regretted the absence of some opposition members from the meeting and said the consultation process would continue. The parliamentary committee said no institution, individual or group should show weakness in the fight against terrorism, adding national security should be ensured under a strong and coordinated strategy.
According to sources, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq requested Army Chief Syed Asim Munir at the end of the meeting to offer Dua. The army chief prayed for success in the war against terrorism and peace in the country.
