GILGIT: The date for the general elections of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly has officially been announced, with polling scheduled for June 7, 2026.
According to the Election Commission, a notification has been issued confirming the polling date. Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan made the formal announcement, stating that the elections will be held under the Elections Act 2017 and the GB Order 2018.
The notification has also been forwarded for publication in the official gazette of Pakistan. The announcement marks a key step toward the electoral process in the region as political activities are expected to gain momentum in the coming weeks.
