Pop star Britney Spears was arrested on charges of driving under the influence late last night in California.
According to authorities, the singer was stopped by officers of the California Highway Patrol at around 9:30 pm. Police reportedly placed her in handcuffs after determining she was allegedly driving while intoxicated.
Officials said Spears was booked in the early hours of Thursday at approximately 3:00 am. She remained in custody for a few hours before being released shortly after 6:00 am the same morning.
