Power consumers in Punjab given Rs14/unit cut: Nawaz

Relief is applicable for consumers using up to 500 units of electricity per month.

ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that the Punjab government has made a Rs14 per unit reduction the electricity bills of consumers in the province.

Addressing a press conference along with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore today, the former prime minister said that the relief would be available to consumers using up to 500 units of electricity per month.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz were focused on providing facilities to oppressed segments of society. Punjab government has also allocated seven hundred billion rupees for a solar program aimed at providing relief to middle class.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said we diverted fifty billion rupees from the development budget of the federal government and gave relief in electricity prices from which consumers with 200 units are benefiting.

He said after achieving economic stabilization, the country is heading in the right direction and public relief and reduction in inflation are the top priorities of the government.
