SUKKUR: In the local by-elections, both candidates of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have been elected unopposed in Tando Allah Yar. The deadline for submitting nomination papers ended today, confirming the unopposed victories.
According to Returning Officer Shehzada Umair, Mir Sohail Pappu Talpur filed his nomination papers for the District Council Chairman seat, while Mir Ali Madad Talpur submitted his papers for Chairman of Union Council (UC) Mirabad. No other candidates submitted nomination papers for either position.
It is important to note that the District Council Chairman seat became vacant following the death of Chairman Mir Pappu Talpur. Mir Sohail Pappu Talpur, who previously held the position of UC Chairman, resigned from his post to contest the District Council Chairman seat. This led to two vacant seats, both of which were scheduled for by-elections.
With no other candidates in the running, both PPP nominees have secured their positions without a contest.
Meanwhile, public concerns over rising crime rates continue to dominate political discourse, as contradictory statements from former Interior Minister and the current Chief Minister raise questions about accountability.
