MUZAFFARABAD: The political landscape of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is once again witnessing turbulence, as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced preparations to bring a no-confidence motion against the sitting Prime Minister and form its own government.
Following a meeting with the President of Pakistan, PPP leaders in AJK declared that if the current Prime Minister does not resign, a no-confidence motion will be tabled within the next 72 hours. Party representatives claim they have the required numbers to ensure the motion’s success and install a new Prime Minister.
Speaking to the media after a meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, senior PPP leader Chaudhry Yaseen said that another party meeting is scheduled for Tuesday to review the political situation in AJK.
He added that the final decision regarding the nominee for Prime Minister will be made by the party’s central leadership.
According to reliable sources, the PPP has proposed three potential candidates for the Prime Minister’s slot — Chaudhry Yaseen, Sardar Yaqoob, and Chaudhry Latif Akbar. The party is currently evaluating these names, and a final decision is expected soon.
Political observers believe the move could significantly alter the balance of power in the AJK Legislative Assembly if the PPP manages to secure enough support to unseat the incumbent government.
