ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has sworn in Zafarul Haq Hijazi as the new Federal Tax Ombudsman at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Later, Hijazi had a meeting with President Zardari. The President congratulated him on assuming the new role and expressed his best wishes for his success.
Hjazi brings with him over four decades of professional experience. He has previously served as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), where he played a significant role in the country’s financial regulatory environment.
During their meeting, President Zardari emphasized the vital role of the Federal Tax Ombudsman in addressing the issues faced by taxpayers. He directed that effective measures be taken to increase public awareness so that a larger number of citizens can benefit from the services provided by the office.
President Zardari also stressed the importance of utilizing modern technology efficiently, encouraging the Federal Tax Ombudsman’s office to provide immediate, transparent, and easy relief to citizens. Additionally, he called for the expansion of the office’s outreach across the country.
