ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday conferred Hilale Imtiaz award on javelin thrower and olympics gold medalist Arshad Nadeem for winning the gold in the Paris Olympics this year.

The investiture ceremony was held at the president house in which the president in the presence of a large number of people from different walks of life conferred the civilian award on the national hero.

In the Paris Olympics, Arshad Nadeem made world record of throwing the javelin to 92.97 metres to win the gold medal. This was the first gold medal any Pakistani won in the Olympics after 40 years. 

The president had announced the civilian award for Arshad Nadeem after he won the gold medal.
