Prisoners Deny Allegations of Attempted Murder of Sara Sharif’s Father

LONDON: Two prisoners accused of attacking Urfan Sharif, the father of murdered 10-year-old schoolgirl Sara Sharif, have denied allegations that they attempted to kill him inside a British prison.

According to the report, prisoners Steven Sansom and Adam Watson are accused of attacking Sharif in 2025. Prosecutors allege that Sansom invited Sharif into a prison cell, where Watson was waiting, before attacking him and attempting to cut his throat.

Prison officers reportedly intervened and rescued Sharif, who was found seriously injured with severe wounds to his face and neck.

Sansom and Watson appeared before the Old Bailey via separate video links from Wakefield Prison for a plea hearing. Both denied the allegations, and the case was adjourned until a future hearing.

Originally from Pakistan, Urfan Sharif and Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, were previously sentenced to life imprisonment over Sara’s death.
