Probe Body Declares Journalist Khawar Hussain’s Death As Suicide

KARACHI: The investigation committee formed to ascertain the causes of the death of journalist Khawar Hussain has declared it a result of suicide.

The committee submitted an eight-page report supported by additional medical records as part of the comprehensive investigation.

The full investigative report, spanning 30 pages, examined all available evidence before reaching this conclusion. CCTV footage from Khawar’s journey from Karachi to Sanghar was meticulously reviewed, including recordings showing his entry into the hotel parking area up to the moment of the incident.

Medical and postmortem reports also corroborate the findings of suicide. The committee stressed the importance of the family’s cooperation to help understand the underlying reasons behind the tragic act.

The investigation was headed by Additional Inspector General Azad Khan, with DIG Irfan Baloch and SSP Abid Baloch as key members of the team.

In light of the findings, the committee underscored the critical need for greater mental health awareness and support systems, especially for journalists and individuals working in high-stress environments, to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
