ISLAMABAD: Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq has taken charge as the Executive Director of Higher Education Commission (HEC) after his appointment a few days ago.
Previously serving as Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, Dr. Zia brings extensive experience in academic leadership, research, and policy-making to the role.
Ranked among the top 2% of scientists globally by Stanford University, Dr. Zia is recognized for his significant contributions to public health and education. Under his leadership, KMU made notable progress in governance, financial stability, and research, securing over PKR 5 billion in competitive funding.
His appointment is welcomed by academic circles, with expectations that he will tackle HEC’s financial and administrative challenges while fostering excellence in teaching, research, and innovation across the country.
