Professor arrested on charge of harassing female student
Chief Minister forms committee to investigate alleged harassment of student at Malakand University.
PESHAWAR: A professor at the University of Malakand in Lower Dir has been arrested on the charge of harassing a female student.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner Lower Dir Mohibullah, the student had complained of sexual harassment against the professor.
He said the professor has been arrested and a case registered against him under various sections of the law.
The student alleged that the suspect had been harassing her for several months and also tried to abduct her from her home.
According to the university administration, the professor was suspended immediately after his arrest and the case was sent to the harassment committee.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has formed a high-level committee to investigate the alleged harassment of the student at Malakand University.
According to an official statement, the committee included Additional Secretary Administration Asif Rahim and AIG Establishment Central Police Office Sonia Shamroz.
The deputy commissioner and DPO of Lower Dir will provide administrative support and cooperation to the Lower investigation committee.
The committee will submit its report within 15 days. The vice chancellor Malakand University has been directed to provide full support to the committee.
