Protest cannot be allowed after IHC order, PTI told

Gohar Ali Khan tells interior minister that he will consult party leadership.

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi contacted PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and discussed with him the government’s commitment to implement court order on the party’s protest call for November 24th.

In a telephonic conversation, the interior minister told the PTI chairman that besides the Islamabad High Court order, the president of Bilaraus was visiting Islamabad from November 24th to 27th and the protest should be cancelled.

The PTI chairman told the minister that he would consult his party and would come back to him

It may be mentioned here that the traders of Islamabad had petitioned the high court seeking direction for checking repeated protests due to which their businesses were badly affected.

The government told the court that the PTI had not even submitted an application seeking permission for the protest. The high court ordered the Interior Minister to ensure that no party holds a rally without permission.

The court also directed the government to ensure safety of the life and property of the public.

On the other hand, the government closed all motorways on Friday night and blocked main roads to Islamabad by putting containers.
