ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has welcomed the decision of the Court of Arbitration for Sport Anti-Doping Division (CAS Anti-Doping Division), which imposed lifetime bans on former Pakistan Weightlifting Federation president Hafiz Imran Butt and coach Irfan Butt over serious violations of anti-doping regulations.
In its statement, the PSB said the ruling represents a significant step toward protecting the integrity of sports and ensuring accountability for individuals involved in organized doping practices. The board stressed that such decisions reinforce the importance of transparency, fairness, and adherence to international standards in competitive sports.
The PSB noted that it had already taken strict action in November 2025 against individuals involved in doping violations, following due legal process, including suspensions and restrictions on the concerned parties.
According to the board, the recent CAS verdict fully validates PSB’s stance and approach. It reiterated that a clear and stringent anti-doping policy was implemented last year, under which no form of violation would be tolerated.
Under this policy, individuals named in the CAS ruling will not be allowed to participate in any sports-related activities at any level within Pakistan. The PSB further assured that the CAS decision will be implemented fully and strictly in order to uphold discipline and integrity in sports across the country.
