PTA Allows Overseas Citizens to Retain Mobile SIM Services

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced a major decision aimed at facilitating overseas Pakistanis by ensuring continuity of their local mobile phone services during their stay abroad.

According to the PTA, Pakistanis residing overseas will now be able to retain ownership of their Pakistani mobile SIM cards, and their numbers will no longer be blocked due to prolonged absence from the country. This initiative will allow expatriates to maintain uninterrupted access to essential communication services while living abroad.

PTA officials stated that overseas Pakistanis can avail themselves of this facility by contacting their respective mobile network operators to complete the required formalities.

The move is intended to ease communication challenges faced by expatriates, particularly for banking, verification, and contact with family members in Pakistan.

A PTA spokesperson emphasized that the authority remains committed to empowering overseas Pakistanis and expanding digital connectivity at the global level.
