ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has officially taken over the management of Telenor Pakistan, marking a major development in the country’s telecommunications sector.
According to PTCL, the company has completed the acquisition of 100 percent of the issued shares of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers. Following the completion of the transaction, both Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will operate as wholly owned subsidiaries of PTCL.
PTCL said the move signals the beginning of a new phase of digital growth and transformation across the country. Telenor Pakistan will continue to function as a separate legal entity during the interim period.
After obtaining the required regulatory approvals, PTCL’s mobile arm Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (PTML), which operates Ufone 4G, and Telenor Pakistan are expected to be merged into a single integrated entity in the future.
PTCL President and CEO Hatem Bamatraf said the takeover was a proud moment for the company and an important milestone for Pakistan’s telecom industry. He said PTCL would focus on providing seamless, uninterrupted and high-quality services to customers.
