ISLAMABAD: Soon after their sentences were annulled by a court in Islamabad in the Nikah in Iddat case, Imran Khan and his wife were shown arrested in a new Toshakhana case by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Saturday evening.
The sessions court earlier in the day had ordered the release of the couple in the Iddat case. Soon after the ruling, however, NAB officials led by deputy director Mohsin Haroon arrested the couple in the Toshakhana case.
According to the case, Imran as the prime minister and his spouse received gift items from Toshakhana at lower rates and sold them at exorbitant case.
A police team from Lahore also reached Adiala jail to arrest Imran in three May 9, 2023, arson attacks cases registered there in which his interim bail was cancelled on July 9.
On February 3 this year, civil judge Qudratullah had sentenced the former prime minister and PTI founder and his spouse to seven years imprisonment for contracting their marriage while she was in Iddat. They had also been fined Rs0.5 million each.
The additional district and sessions judge, Afzal Majoka, today accepted their appeal and set aside the ruling.
