ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, presided over a parliamentary party meeting of PTI, where a unanimous resolution was approved.
Members of the National Assembly from PTI attended the session, which strongly supported the rights of the party’s founder and other political detainees.
The resolution called for the immediate termination of politically motivated and baseless cases. It emphasized restoring the founder’s family relations and meetings and allowing him to continue his political contacts and engagements.
The resolution also stressed ensuring justice and legal equality for all political detainees.
During the meeting, PTI members paid tribute to the leaders of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aeen Pakistan for their recent visit to Lahore. The party condemned police violence, including baton charges and harassment, by Punjab government officials during the visit.
PTI also congratulated the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and his team for their recent visit to Karachi.
The resolution criticized the Sindh government for creating obstacles during party visits. It also demanded full implementation of the peace jirga’s announcements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Key party leaders, including Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Latif Chitral, Ahmed Chattha, Bilal Ijaz Ehsan Wark, Rana Faraz Noon, Rai Haider Ali, Rai Hasan Nawaz, and Jamshed Dasti, were specially recognized for their contributions.
They highlighted the country’s current fragile and complex political situation and called on democratic forces to agree on a new Charter of Democracy. The party demanded the formation of an Election Commission acceptable to all stakeholders and stressed the need for transparent, independent, and fair elections.
