DROSH: As many as 19 workers of PTI Drosh have been nominated in an FIR on the charge of holding a convention on the premises of a house in Drosh.
Meanwhile, candidate for provincial assembly seat of Lower Chitral Shahzada Khalid Pevez launched his election campaign at a football tournament in Barenis village without any hurdle.
The FIR stated that the PTI workers gathered at the haveli of Razitu Billah in violation of Section 144 imposed in the area. It said the police had warned the PTI workers against holding the event, but they went ahead and held the program.
The FIR was registered under section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code against Razitu Billah, Haji Sultan Muhammad, Syed Farid Hussain Jan, Samiullah Sameen, Nazirullah, Abdul Aziz, Shah Nawaz and Khwaja Aftab and 11 other workers of the party.
Section 188 states, “Disobedience to an order lawfully promulgated by a public servant, if such disobedience causes obstruction, annoyance or injury to persons lawfully employed. If such disobedience causes danger to human life, health or safety, etc. Simple imprisonment for one month, or fine of 200 rupees, or both).”
About two weeks ago, PTI Upper Chitral president Shahzad Sikendar and scores of party workers were jailed under the same charge. They had gone to a local court where a party leader from Malakand had been brought for hearing of a case against him. The PTI workers were released on bail after six days.
Rights activists have termed these cases a political victimization against the PTI and demanded equal treatment to all political parties and their workers especially when general elections were approaching.
