PTI’s Asad Qaiser released on high court order

District administration of Swabi withdraws arrest order in direction of Peshawar High Court.

SWABI: Former speaker of National Assembly and PTI leader Asad Qaiser was on Wednesday released from the district jail of Mardan in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

The district administration of Swabi withdrew the arrest order of Qaiser issued under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance. The order was withdrawn on the direction of the Peshawar High Court.

The order said that the accused will not disrupt peace and will follow the SOPs issued by the provincial government.

Police a few weeks ago had arrested Asad Qaiser even though a local court ordered his release.

The police said that Qaiser had been arrested in another FIR registered against him in connection with the May 9 and 10 violence.

After taking him into custody, the police shifted the PTI leader to the Mardan city police station

Qaiser was booked in the May 9 and 10 violence cases and arrested by the police on November.

On Mov 24, the court had rejected police request for physical remand of the accused and sent him on judicial remand.
