PTI’s intra-party election termed a farce
PML-N, PPP and other rival parties ask Election Commission to take notice.
ISLAMABAD: The intra-party election conducted by the PTI on the direction of the Election Commission of Pakistan on Saturday was a farce and a bid to hoodwinked the commission.
It may be noted that the PTI on Saturday announced that Gohar Ali Khan has been elected unopposed chairman and Umar Ayub as general secretary in the intra-party election.
Reacting to the process, PML-N spokesperson Marriyam Aurangzeb said the whole process of selection was completed in just 15 minutes without any voters, election commission or any booth.
She said it was a farce and a contempt to the legal requirement set by the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure democratic values in political parties.
Faisal Karim Kundi of the PPP said the foundation of the PTI was laid on rigging, so it was futile to expect fair play in the party as regard to following the law and legal process.
He also demanded that the Election Commission should take notice and initiate action against the PTI for making joke of the legal exercise.
Fiazul Hassan Chauhan of the new party of PTI deserters, IPP, said if the February 8th general elections are held in this manner would the PTI accept it.
Another former PTI leader Pervez Khattak, who has formed his own PTI-P party, said first ensure free and fair election in the party abd then demand the general elections to be free and fair.
Meanwhile, PTI’s founding leader and its rival Akbar S. Babar has announced to challenge the fraud intra-party election in the Election Commission of Pakistan.
