ISLAMABAD: An MNA-elect of the PTI from Sialkot has been kidnapped by unknown people, said secretary general of the party, Omar Ayub, on Friday.
In a post on social networking forum of X, Ayub stated: “ATTENTION!! IMMEDIATE!! Brig (R) Aslam Ghumman PTI MNA elect from Sialkot has been abducted by unknown people. He is being forced to leave PTI & join PMLn. Condemn this rigging process and enforced disappearences in the strongest words possible.”
Ayub also said that Aslam Ghumman was being forced to quit the PTI and join the PML-N. He strongly condemned the strong-arm tactics to force elected representatives to switch loyalties.
The PTI and a number of other political parties have already announced to launch protests against rigging in the February 8 general elections.
Many countries including the USA and EU have demanded investigations into the irregularities in the elections, but the illegal practice of forcing elected representatives continues to benefit a particular party.
