PTM’s Manzoor Pashteen sent on judicial remand

Police request for extension in remand of PTM leader turned down by Islamabad court.

ISLAMABAD: Pashtoon Tahaffuz Movement chief Manzoor Pashteen was on Saturday sent on judicial remand by a court in the federal capital.

Pashteen was arrested by law enforcement agencies in Chaman a few says ago while going to Turbat to attend a protest sit-in there against extra-judicial killing of a youth. The protest in Turbat has continued for over 10 days and later moved to Islamabad where it still continues.

Later, Pashteen was brought to Islamabad and detained in connection with a case registered against him gor violating Section 144 and holding a protest gathering in Tarnol.

Today, Pashteen was produced in a local court by police with a request for an extension in his remand. However, the judge turned down the request and sent the PTM leader to jail on judicial remand.

The counsel for Pashteen, on the other hand, sought bail for Pashteen which was also not accepted.

The court issued notice to the authorities concerned and directed the police to produce the PTM leader in court on January 2.
