Public Holiday Announced in Sindh Schools on August 15
KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday in all public and private educational institutions across the province on August 15.
According to the notification, the holiday has been declared to mark the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
It is worth mentioning that the Sindh government had earlier announced a general holiday today, August 9, on the occasion of the Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai. The notification for today’s holiday was also issued in advance.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is observed with processions, religious gatherings, and security arrangements across Pakistan, particularly in Sindh’s major cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Sukkur. Law enforcement agencies typically deploy additional personnel to ensure peace during the events.
Educational institutions are expected to resume regular operations from August 16, while government offices will remain open on that day as per routine schedules.
