LAHORE: The Punjab Bar Council on Wednesday issued condemnation over the killing of two lawyers, announcing a complete strike across Punjab on December 4.
In accordance with the council’s official declaration, lawyers throughout the province will refrain from appearing before any court on Thursday.
The Bar Council resolved to strictly prohibit the entry of police personnel into all district courts of the Lahore and Multan divisions.
The council criticized the continued failure to apprehend the murderers of Advocate Muhammad Zeeshan Shabbir Dhaddi and Advocate Mehar Munir Ahmed Khan Sadhana Sial, describing the situation as a glaring and intolerable example of what it termed the “unacceptable negligence” of the Punjab Police.
In additio, the Punjab Bar Council demanded the immediate arrest of the assailants, as well as any police officials allegedly involved in protecting, assisting, or sheltering them.
The council has issued a firm ultimatum to the Punjab government and the Inspector General of Police, directing them to ensure decisive action and visible progress within three days.
Moreover, the Bar Council emphasized that failure to achieve meaningful arrests within the specified deadline would compel it to intensify the protest further, expanding it not only to a province-wide agitation but ultimately to a nationwide movement.
