Punjab Govt Sets Minimum Wage at Rs40,000

LAHORE: The Punjab government has officially issued a notification fixing the minimum monthly wage of workers at Rs40,000.

According to the notification, laborers will be paid Rs40,000 for 26 working days, with the daily wage set at Rs1,538.46 for an 8-hour workday.

Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource, Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar, stated that the government is committed to the welfare and well-being of workers. He directed the Labour Welfare Department to ensure strict implementation of the new wage order.

The minister further warned that strict action and a crackdown would be launched against employers failing to comply with the minimum wage law.

This step has been welcomed as a significant move aimed at improving the economic conditions of the working class in Punjab.
