Qatar Recognizes CPSP Fellowship; Major Relief for Pakistani Doctors
ISLAMABAD: The Qatari government has extended a major relief to Pakistani doctors by officially recognizing the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP)’s fellowship.
The move will result in an upgrade of licensing categories for Pakistani doctors, making it easier for them to practice in Qatar.
According to diplomatic sources, Qatar will now prioritize the recognition of the CPSP fellowship. Additionally, the implementation of an exemption from the prometric examination for Pakistani doctors has already begun. Prior to this decision, Qatar conducted a review of the relevant eligibility and standards set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
Following this review, Qatar has agreed to recognize the CPSP First Fellowship in Basic specialties along with the second fellowship in basic sub-specialties. The second fellowship in basic sub-specialties has now been included in the second category of accredited specialty certificates for licensing in Qatar. However, to qualify for the second fellowship, doctors must first hold the CPSP first fellowship in a primary specialty.
The decision will open up more job opportunities for Pakistani doctors in Qatar. It is also expected to ease professional mobility for Pakistani medical professionals. The contribution of Pakistani doctors is already crucial to Qatar’s healthcare system, and this recognition will further solidify their role.
