ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to introduce quarterly reviews of the Annual Development Plan (ADP) to improve oversight and ensure the timely completion of national development goals, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said.

Speaking while chairing the Mid-Year Review Meeting of the Annual Plan 2025–26 in Islamabad, the minister noted that the ADP is prepared every year alongside the federal budget to outline economic priorities and assess the performance of various ministries.

He said the move to review the plan on a quarterly basis is intended to enhance planning, monitoring, and implementation frameworks, allowing the government to address challenges in a timely manner and improve overall efficiency.

Ahsan Iqbal stressed that effective governance goes beyond short-term performance delivery and requires strengthening institutions so they can achieve set targets while continuously improving future outcomes.

Outlining the government’s long-term development agenda, he said that under the “URAAN Pakistan” initiative, Pakistan aims to become a one trillion-dollar economy by 2035. He added that regular review meetings will help track progress toward these goals and ensure their effective execution.
