According to a notification issued by the authorities, Punjab Rangers have been deployed in Islamabad and various districts of Punjab following requests from the Islamabad chief commissioner and the Punjab Home Department.
The Rangers personnel will perform duties assigned by the Islamabad chief commissioner and the provincial government during the deployment period.
According to the notification, the deployment will remain in place from September 20 to October 5, 2026.
The move comes as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has announced a long march for September 27 and has maintained that it will proceed with the planned protest.
The authorities have made security arrangements in anticipation of possible gatherings and sit-ins in Islamabad and different parts of Punjab.
