LAHORE: A resolution has been submitted in the Punjab Assembly seeking the nomination of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The resolution was tabled by Pakistan Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Chief Whip Rana Muhammad Arshad. It commended the leadership’s effective diplomacy, stating that their efforts helped pave the way for peace and stability in the region.
According to the text of the resolution, rising tensions among Israel, the United States and Iran had posed a serious threat to global peace and risked escalating into a major international crisis. It added that the Pakistani leadership played a key role in facilitating a ceasefire and reducing tensions.
The resolution further stated that Pakistan, as a peace-loving country, has demonstrated a positive, balanced and constructive role in the international community. It said the Prime Minister, the Army Chief and the Foreign Minister be formally nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition of their diplomatic efforts.
