Resolution of Kashmir issue under UN resolutions urged

BARCELONA: The Consulate General of Pakistan in Barcelona observed the Kashmir Solidarity Day by organizing an event attended by a large number of Pakistani and Hispanic Pakistani community members living in and around Barcelona.
A video played on the occasion highlighted Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir.
Special messages of the President, Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister on Kashmir Solidarity Day were read out on the occasion.

In his video message, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Spain Zahoor Ahmed was shed light on Kashmir Solidarity Day in the resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He urged the international community to take notice of the grave human rights violations in occupied Kashmir. He said the purpose of the event was to show the brutal face of the occupation forces in Kashmir to the world. He said the world must realize its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The ambassador also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to provide political, diplomatic and moral support to the just cause of self-determination of the people of Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan’s Consul General Mr Murad Ali Wazir called upon the Pakistani community and Spanish MPs to positively raise the issue in the Catalan Parliament.

A photo exhibition depicting the sufferings of civilians, especially women and children, at the hands of Indian occupation forces was also organized. The event received wide coverage in both print and electronic media, including local and Pakistani TV channels.
The participants called for a political, diplomatic solution to the Kashmir issue for a just cause and said that the United Nations should play a role to resolve the dispute peacefully.
Spanish political figures Mr. Jose Maria Sala, former Senator of the Socialist Party and Mr. Ernesto Carrión, Member of the Catalan Parliament, also spoke at the event, calling for the resolution of the longstanding issue in accordance with international norms and UN resolutions.
