TEHRAN: Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has accused certain agitators of damaging government property in an effort to please U.S. President Donald Trump.

Addressing the nation, Khamenei urged Iranians to stay united in the face of unrest and condemned the violence. He specifically mentioned that a group of protesters had attacked buildings in Tehran and other cities, emphasizing that such actions were meant to serve foreign interests.

“These actions aim to create division and weaken the country,” Khamenei said. “The Islamic Republic will not tolerate mercenaries and those working against the nation.” He also advised President Trump to focus on addressing issues in the U.S. rather than meddling in Iran’s internal affairs.

This statement comes amid a nationwide wave of protests that erupted over Iran’s worsening economic crisis. Since the protests began on December 28, at least 45 people, including security forces, have lost their lives in clashes.
