ISLAMABAD: Law enforcers in Islamabad have closed all routes leading to Parliament House in anticipation of a protest organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the opposition alliance.
Security forces have been deployed in large numbers around the Parliament House, and access to the area has been strictly restricted for both citizens and lawmakers.
Armored vehicles and prisoner transport vans have also been stationed near the Parliament as a precautionary measure.
Radio Pakistan Chowk and Constitution Avenue have been completely blocked, preventing anyone from reaching Parliament. PTI lawmakers Iqbal Afridi and Umair Niazi were stopped at Radio Pakistan Chowk.
There was also a confrontation between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Fatahullah Khan and the police, with Khan claiming that his security guard was slapped by officers.
