Sami Ullah Appointed Chief Selector of Hockey Team

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced key appointments for the national men’s hockey team, naming former legendary player Sami Ullah as the Chief Selector.

According to the federation, the appointments were made on the recommendation of the Professional Development Committee and also include renowned former Olympians Hasan Sardar and Islahuddin Siddiqui in responsible positions.

The federation stated that the aim of these appointments is to revive the sport of hockey in Pakistan and improve the national team’s performance. A comprehensive plan has been developed, including restructuring the team, appointing coaching staff, and scheduling regular competitions.

Officials also highlighted that specialized training for coaches, umpires, and officials will receive priority, while talent hunt programs will be launched nationwide to discover new players.

Furthermore, efforts will be made to promote hockey at school and college levels, reactivate inter-institutional competitions, and establish a high-performance center for professional player development.

The President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation expressed hope that Samia Ullah’s appointment will benefit the national team and help Pakistan Hockey regain its lost prominence. The federation also pledged to implement this plan with the support of all relevant institutions and stakeholders in hockey.
