Samina Baig Achieves Historic South Pole Ski Expedition

ISLAMABAD: Samina Baig from Hunza has achieved yet another remarkable milestone by successfully completing a ski expedition to the South Pole, becoming the first Pakistani woman to accomplish this feat.

Hailing from Gilgit-Baltistan, Samina Baig completed the grueling journey under extreme and challenging conditions. The expedition was part of the prestigious Explorers Grand Slam challenge, which involves reaching some of the most remote and demanding locations on Earth.

Speaking after the achievement, Samina Baig described the expedition as the most difficult yet most meaningful journey of her life. She said the mission required unwavering confidence, patience, and faith in one’s dreams, adding that every moment of the journey made her stronger.

She also delivered an inspiring message to young women, encouraging them never to stop striving to turn their dreams into reality. Samina expressed gratitude to her family, support team, and sponsors for their emotional and financial backing throughout the expedition.

Calling it a moment of immense pride, she said carrying the Pakistani flag and the Ismaili flag to the world’s highest mountains and now to the icy South Pole was a great honor.

Samina Baig is already recognized as the first Pakistani woman to summit Mount Everest, K2, and all Seven Summits, the highest peaks on each continent. With the completion of the South Pole ski expedition, she has added yet another historic chapter to her illustrious career.
