LAHORE: Political Adviser to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan on Saturday stressed the importance of maintaining peace for Pakistan’s progress and rejected the politics of sit-ins and protests.

He emphasized that a peaceful environment is crucial for the country’s development.

Talking to the media in Lahore, he also stated that the government will not hold negotiations with groups working against the state. He confirmed that Punjab was ready to conduct local government elections.

Recently, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) held a series of protests across Punjab, which escalated into violent clashes with law enforcement and caused significant disruptions. In response, authorities arrested thousands of TLP members and initiated legal action against them under anti-terrorism laws.

The Punjab government has moved to recommend a federal ban on the TLP due to its extremist activities and challenge to state authority. This step reflects the government’s determination to maintain law and order in the region.
