According to a foreign news agency, Saudi electric vehicle manufacturer Ceer on Monday introduced its first fully electric sedan and SUV. The company expects sales of both models in Saudi Arabia to begin in early 2027.
The new vehicles, named Exobot, feature a futuristic design and upward-opening doors. Ceer Chief Executive Jim DeLuca said the vehicles also eliminate the conventional pillars between the front and rear seats, replacing them with stronger materials to maintain structural integrity.
DeLuca said the company wanted to demonstrate Saudi Arabia’s capabilities in the development and manufacturing of advanced vehicles.
Ceer is a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Taiwanese electronics company Foxconn. The company is also benefiting from Saudi financial support and the country’s industrial policies.
Several international companies have contributed to the development of the new vehicles. Foxconn provided the electrical architecture for Exobot, while Germany’s BMW contributed engineering expertise.
Other global auto-parts manufacturers, including US-based Lear, South Korea’s Shin Young, Germany’s Benteler and China’s Fangxin, have also established factories in Saudi Arabia with various incentives from the Saudi government.
Ceer said it plans to introduce five more models by 2030. While the company initially focused entirely on electric vehicles, its future lineup will also include plug-in hybrids and conventional engine-powered vehicles in response to changing market demand.
The company plans to begin expanding into nearby regional markets in 2028 before extending its reach to other countries across the Middle East and North Africa.
