KARACHI: The Election Commission of Sindh has announced the schedule for by-elections in 16 districts to fill 45 vacant local government seats.
According to the commission’s spokesperson, the by-elections will be held in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Tando Allahyar, Jamshoro, Matiari, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, Sanghar, Ghotki, Khairpur, Thatta, Badin, Sujawal, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Shikarpur.
As per the schedule, Returning Officers will issue public notices on April 2. Nomination papers can be submitted between April 6 and 8. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from April 13 to 15, with the provisional list of candidates released on April 16.
Polling for the 45 vacant seats is scheduled for May 17, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, without any breaks. Candidates will have the option to withdraw their nomination papers until April 30. The final list of candidates will be published on May 4, along with the allocation of election symbols.
The Election Commission emphasized the importance of a transparent and fair electoral process to ensure proper representation at the local level.
