Scholarship program launched for Palestinian students
Minister says it is incumbent upon the nation to help oppressed people of Palestine.
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui on Tuesday chaired a gathering held to launch a scholarship and fellowship program for the students of Palestine.
The students of Palestine have been badly affected by the continuous Israeli bombardments and attacks since October 2023.
Speaking on the occasion, Comstech Coordinator General Dr Iqbal Chaudhry said hundreds of scholarships will be offered to Palestinian students in the first phase. However, around 5,000 additional opportunities will be provided to the citizens of Palestine in technical education and other fields.
The IT minister said it was incumbent upon the nation to help the oppressed people of Palestine. He expressed satisfaction over the potential and capacity of the Pakistani educational institutions in imparting quality education to students.
Heads and representatives of various public and private universities were presented shields for offering generous scholarships to the Palestinian youth.
Palestinian Ambassador Ahmad Rabaie, vice chancellors and representatives of private and public educational institutions, diplomats and Palestinian students were also present.
