According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces detected an infiltration attempt by a group affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij and allegedly sponsored by India along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border opposite North Waziristan during the night of August 31 and September 1, 2026.
ISPR said the security forces responded effectively and professionally, killing 15 militants during the 36-hour operation.
A large quantity of weapons and ammunition was recovered during a subsequent clearance operation in the area, the military said. According to ISPR, the recovered material further highlighted the alleged plans and activities of the militants and their facilitators.
The military said the militants and their facilitators were attempting to undermine peace and stability in Pakistan. It added that the incident once again reinforced Pakistan’s position that the Afghan Taliban government had failed to prevent terrorist groups from using Afghan territory for cross-border terrorism.
ISPR said the Afghan Taliban government had also repeatedly failed to ensure effective border management and fulfil its international obligations.
Pakistan’s position, the statement added, remained clear that the use of Afghan soil for cross-border terrorism must be stopped.
Security forces remain determined to defend the country’s borders, while a clearance operation is continuing in the area to locate and eliminate any remaining militants allegedly operating with Indian support.
ISPR said the counterterrorism campaign by security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue with full momentum under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” vision approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
The military’s media wing said the ongoing campaign was aimed at eliminating foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country, adding that security forces and law-enforcement agencies would continue operations against militant groups.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the security forces for foiling the infiltration attempt along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near North Waziristan.
Naqvi said the forces had acted in a timely manner and killed 15 militants, thwarting what he described as the enemy’s designs. He paid tribute to the security personnel and said the nation was proud of their professionalism, courage and capabilities.
He added that the entire nation stood alongside the security forces in the fight against terrorism.
