RAWALPINDI: Security forces in Bannu conducted an intelligence-based operation following reports of militant presence, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire that led to the killing of 22 Indian-sponsored Khawarij militants.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces received credible intelligence regarding the presence of an Indian-backed Khawarij militant group in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In response, the forces immediately launched a targeted operation, cordoning off the area and striking the militants’ hideouts.
A heavy exchange of fire ensued, resulting in the death of 22 terrorists, all identified as proxies supported by India.
The ISPR further stated that the operation to clear the area of militants is ongoing and will continue until all foreign-backed terrorist elements are eliminated.
Under the framework of the National Action Plan and the federal Apex Committee-approved strategy “Vision Azm-e-Istiqamat,” security forces and law enforcement agencies of Pakistan are vigorously continuing their relentless counter-terrorism campaign to completely eradicate the scourge of externally supported terrorism from the country.
