Journalist shot dead in Khyber tribal district

Police say they have registered a case and started search for arrest of killers.

PESHAWAR: Senior journalist Jibrani Khalil was shot dead by unknown in the Mazarina area of Khyber District, Landi Kotal, in Khyber Pakthunkhwa.

According to police sources, Jibran Khalil, who represented Khyber News, was intercepted by unidentified assailants when he was going home along with a lawyer. The armed men pulled out the journalist from the vehicle and sprayed him with billets. The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined.

Khalil was a seasoned journalist and a well-known figure in the journalism community. His colleagues and friends have expressed shock and grief over his sudden demise.

Police in the area said that they have registered a case abd started a hunt for the arrest of the killers.

Meanwhile, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur have directed the police to trace and arrest the culprits.
